The General Statement of  Intent

 

The policy of the Company is to achieve and maintain the highest standard of safety and health for it’s employees, and to conduct the Company’s activities with appropriate safeguards against exposing any visitors or the general public to risks of their health and safety.

 

The Company recognises and accepts its responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, subordinate legislation made under the Act, and other relevant health and safety legislation.

 

In particular, this extends to the provision and maintenance of:
 

  1. A safe place of work with safe access and egress.
  2. Safe plant, work equipment and safe systems of work.
  3. Safe handling, transport, use, storage and disposal of articles and substances.
  4. Safe working environment with adequate provisions as to welfare.

 

The Company recognises, and accepts its responsibilities to provide adequate training and information, and to consult with all employees on all  matters that significantly effect their health or safety at work. In particular, the Company will:

 

  1. Provide the necessary information, training, instruction and supervision to ensure that all employees can carry out their tasks without risk to safety and health.
  2. Provide the necessary information and training to ensure that all employees can take the correct actions in situations of serious and imminent danger.
  3. Consult fully, and in good tome with any employees before the introduction of any work process, or new technology in the workplace, which may substantially affect the health or safety of those employees.

 

Employees have duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and  other legislation. The Company requires that its employees comply with their obligations under the legislation.  In particular they are required to:

 

  1. Take reasonable care of their own health and safety, and that of others who might be affected by their acts or omissions.
     
  2. Co-operate with  the Company, so far as is necessary for the Company to comply with its legislative duties.
     
  3. Use safe systems of work,  as instructed.  This includes using everything provided for health and safety or welfare as they have been trained or instructed to do so.
  4. Not to intentionally or recklessly interfere with  or misuse anything provided by the Company in the interests of  health and  safety.
     
  5. Inform the management of the Company,  through  appropriate channels, of  dangerous situations and shortcomings in the Company health and  safety arrangements.
     

This policy will be kept up to date, particularly if the business changes in nature or size. To ensure this, the policy and the way it is operated , will be reviewed at least annually.
